Common pharmacological agents for cervical ripening include prostaglandin E2 such as dinoprostone gel or dinoprostone insert and prostaglandin E1 such as misoprostol tablets. <strong>Mechanical methods<\/strong> of cervical ripening include transcervical Foley or balloon catheters and hygroscopic dilators.
