We are proud to announce the 2017 winner of the EMRA/Rosh Review One Step Further Award as Dr. Jennifer Beck-Esmay of NYU/Bellevue.

The One Step Further award is given to a resident who exemplifies the ideals of continuous learning and self-improvement, and who takes it upon themselves to go “one step further” to improve a weakness or accelerate a strength.

Dr. Beck-Esmay has a passion for education and has worked extremely hard to explore this area. In 2015, she was one of a small handful of resident participants at The Teaching Course in New York. She used skills gained from this conference to further advance her academic career and development as a speaker. Dr. Beck-Esmay was invited to speak at the Social Medial and Critical Care Conference in Dublin in June of 2016 to discuss the FemInEM project and what it means to our specialty. She was one of a small number of resident speakers invited to share the stage with internationally recognized experts in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Anesthesia and Prehospital Medicine. In October 2016, she delivered an incredible talk in front of 500 EM residents and faculty at the All NYC EM conference on the role of tranexamic acid in trauma. She was also selected to deliver a blast lecture at the Resuscitate NYC 2017 conference in January 2017 at Mt. Sinai in front of over 600 attendees in EM and critical care.

Anand Swaminathan, who nominated Dr. Beck-Esmay, describes her level of involvement and commitment as remarkable. To sum it up, Dr. Beck-Esmay has accomplished far more in her four years of residency than many Emergency Physicians can hope to accomplish in a career.

Congratulations to Dr. Jennifer Beck-Esmay, who embodies Rosh Review’s belief in always going “One Step Further.”
